The Nagpur police crime branch has successfully cracked down on thieves and burglars by solving a total of nine cases in two operations, providing relief to the citizens. In one operation, two burglars were captured, resulting in the resolution of seven cases. The city police have recently intensified their efforts to combat vehicle thefts and burglaries, addressing the growing concerns among the residents. One of the cases involved a burglary at Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar, where cash and valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh were stolen. An investigation led by the Pachpaoli police and the crime branch identified the culprits through CCTV footage, resulting in the apprehension of Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23). During interrogation, the accused confessed to three burglaries and four vehicle thefts, leading to the recovery of stolen items and three vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh. Both accused individuals are described as substance abusers who engage in criminal activities to support their addictions. Ramakant is also wanted in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, three miscreants were arrested by crime branch unit 5 for their involvement in two cases of vehicle thefts, following an investigation into a bike theft at Jaripatka police station. The apprehension of Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24) was facilitated by CCTV footage and intelligence gathering.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered and the bike used in the crime has been seized, totaling a value of Rs1.20 lakh. Sources indicate that a majority of vehicle thefts occur in busy or market areas of the city, while most burglaries are reported on the outskirts, within police jurisdictions like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, and others. Local residents have urged the police to increase night patrols to prevent such incidents. Police have advised citizens to notify their neighbors and local police stations when leaving the city, allowing for increased vigilance over their homes.
